Specialist pyrotechnics may be used in situations where conventional fireworks cannot, for example on stage, in close proximity to performers, the public or structures or even indoors.

Stage, Indoor or Arena Pyrotechnics are best used to emphasise or mark a moment, some examples might include a winners “cup lift”, a stage entry or exit, the opening of a building, the cutting of a ribbon or the end of a speech. Pyrotechnic effects tend to be instantaneous or of very short duration and so it is rare for them to be presented as a complete stand-alone display. They can however be combined with music, lighting and other entertainment in a multimedia show.
